New Year - New Challenges

New Year, New Challenges!

As 2010 dawns the festive over indulgences are forgotten and our thoughts turn to getting the training going again and the healthy eating back on track ahead of race season, it may "only" be January but those with targets and goals set for the coming year the next few months are going to fly and we will be lining up at the start of a race before we know it.

The race team, both academy and senior has grown in the last year with many new faces joining us, bringing new skills, requirements and goals to compliment those of our founder members, and we look forward to seeing everybody achieve in the next twelve months.

Great Britain  AG Squad

There are a number of the team attempting qualification for the Great Britain AG Squad this year, either for the 2010 Worlds in Hungary or the 2011 Europeans in Spain, qualification races are going to be tough and places on the squad are going to be hard fought for at all age groups. There will be a sprint distance race at the Europeans in 2010 as well as the regular Olympic distance, doubling the amount of slots on the team and therefore doubling the opportunity to make the grade, if you're interested in attempting qualification and would like more information please contact Karl to discuss further (karl@3xtri.com).

The 2010 World Duathlon Championships are also coming to "home turf" this year and will be held in Edinburgh in the Autumn, those considering having a crack at selection in the 10k run / 40k bike / 5k run race should be training now, the closest qualifying race is Rother Valley in March!

It doesn't hurt to attempt selection for any of the events so go for it! You never know, you may just qualify!

Team Target Race - Wimbleball

Many of the team are registered for the target race in June this year, the UK Ironman 70.3 at Wimbleball, as many of you know this is going to be a tough race and if you want to make the cut off times you need to be training smart from now, don't go crazy with mileage but you should be getting the base fitness there so you don't struggle when race day arrives. Those who missed the race entry cut off are of course welcome to travel with the team for the weekend, come and support those racing and enjoy the post race party.

Ironman

Several of our members are also getting ready for Iron distance races at Lanzarote, Challenge Roth and the Outlaw in 2010, some for the first time, and it's good to see our team performing at all levels and distances of triathlon.

Training & Coaching

Whatever your goals for the season, from competing your first triathlon to qualifying for the National AG squad, if you need help or advice with your training please don't hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to sit with you over coffee and go through your training plans, alternatively if you need one on one coaching in a particular discipline please contact us and make a booking.

Whatever your challenges we wish you the best of luck for 2010 and look forward to being able to support you throughout the year!
