The Swim – 400m
The swim will be 12 x 33m lengths of the South Hunsley swimming pool. You may swim any style of either front crawl or breaststroke, for safety reasons you will not be allowed to swim back stroke or butterfly at the event.
You will be assigned a lane and start time, you are required to be pool side at least 15 minutes before your allocated start time. As the event is being timed by electronic timing chip it is essential that you are ready to start at your assigned time.
Swimming hats will be provided and goggles are optional but strongly recommended, nose clips may be worn as required but no other swimming aids such as fins or mits will be permitted.
You should swim in a regular swimming costume / trunks or tri suit / tri shorts. Wetsuits are not permitted.
There will be a table close to the swim exit which can be used for storing your glasses / inhalers as required. No drinks bottles or towels are to be left at this table.
It is your reponsibility to count your own lengths, there will be swim lap counters around the area counting laps, therefore you must ensure that you count your laps and swim the required amount.
The Bike – 20Km
The bike section of the race will be a single 20Km anti clockwise loop and will take place on the open highways. The route will be marshalled and signposted.
The course is challenging but enjoyable with several steady but shallow climbs, a few fun descents and some excellent views of the Humber estuary.
Marshals will be placed at route junctions to advise on road and traffic conditions, you should be aware that marshals do not have authority to stop traffic and your safety is your own concern. Always slow at junctions and obey instructions of marshals.
There is one set of traffic lights on the course approximately 600 metres from the start. You will take a left turn at these lights. You must use caution at this left turn. The junction will be marshalled and you must obey any safety instructions.
You may ride any type of bicycle for the event as long as it is safe, has working brakes, free wheels and the bar ends are plugged! Please see the BTF rules available on the 3xtri website for further safety information.
Helmets must be worn at all times and you must obey the Highway Code, speed limits do apply to competitors!
You must wear your race number on your back during the bike section of the race
Please carry all empty water bottles and gel / bar wrappers back to transition, do NOT litter!
