Entry Limit 200
Entries are no longer being taken for this event.
Prepare your body and mind for a wild ride in the latest addition to the Country's triathlon calendar. Using the biggest, the fastest and the most iconic that Yorkshire has to offer we're going to give you exactly the race you wanted!
The Swim
The race gets under way with an approximately 1500 meter open water swim, nothing too unusual about that, in fact it's to be expected for a standard distance race...
Ok so it's a point to point swim, but that's not a bad thing, if anything it's easier to navigate as you don't have to turn at buoys and as far as spotting goes, how can you miss the Humber Bridge?
Did we mention that the swim is in the River Humber? - One of the biggest and wildest rivers in the Country? This will see you navigating your way through fast tides, unexpected direction changes in the current, eddies and high swells just to get to the swim exit. The swim could be the fastest split outside of the Hudson at the New York Triathlon, or, depending on the currents, it could be the toughest you've ever experienced. There's no telling as the currents and tides vary, so you'll probably have a bit of both...
The swim is approximately 1500 meters, but with the variation of tides and currents could be slightly longer or shorter.
The Unexpected
On exiting the swim you'll have the small matter of a 500 meter run up the steps of the Country Park to get to transition, your lungs will burn, your quads will burn, but we're sensitive to your requirements, we're putting in a special transition at the swim exit which will allow you to put on an old pair of running shoes before making the climb. You can even take off your wetsuit if a 500 meter run up a hill in a rubber suit doesn't appeal...
The Bike - After a fast transition you're out on the notorious A63 Time Trial route for the bike leg of the race, renowned among cyclists across the Country as a fast course with great PB potential, but don't let that fool you... While the course does have PB potential it's certainly not a "breeze", in fact with a steady East or West wind you'll have quite a battle on your hands over the undulating route.
The Run - How about a run over the World famous Humber Bridge? A fast but thigh burning run over the bridge and back? Twice? Spectacular views of the Humber Estuary will take your mind off the run and before long you'll be sprinting under the finish gantry with a smile on your face for the course photographer. Well, you'll have a smile if the wind isn't blowing up on the bridge, the steady climb in each direction suddenly feels like running up a mountain side when there's a good head wind in the air.
Expo - There will be an expo based at the Race HQ throughout the day of the event with several sports brands including Aqua Sphere and Science In Sport displaying and retailing their eqipment and products. Even if you're not racing it could be well worth a visit to pick up a bargain while watching a fantastic race!

Dare you take on the Yorkshireman Triathlon?
"only the strong, the tough, or the just plain crazy need apply"
We look forward to seeing you at the event which will be hosted at the World famous Humber Bridge in East Yorkshire next year! Entries are limited so don't delay in booking your place fast, furious and fun event! - Minimum age 18
*Please note that this event involves a swim in a large tidal river, only competitors with previous open water race experience will be permitted to race. While we encourage participation we strongly recommend that this race is NOT used as a first step in to open water racing due to the nature of the currents and tides in the river.
Important Disclaimer - We can control a lot of things, but the weather and the tides are outside of our sphere of influence!
1. We will only be able to release the exact race start time 4 weeks from the event (we can't look that far in to the future and see the tides) though the race will start between 08:00 and 10:00.
2. If we experience heavy fog or very bad weather which makes swimming in the river unsafe we may be forced (through consultation with Humber Rescue) to cancel the swim and convert the race to a duathlon. I know duathlons are hard work, but I'm sure you (or if not you, your loved ones) would prefer that over the alternative...
